Day 28 of 30: Promoting Yourself

When I scroll through Facebook today I guarantee I will see self-promoting going on through my feed. A majority of them are multi-level marketing companies who are taking advantage of social media to push their products.

One company that I see promoted everyday by several of my friends is Plexus. I have no affiliation with Plexus but I'm guessing when you first sign up to be an ambassador they have a marketing plan laid out for you with sample posts, statistics, testimonials, etc. It's obvious they have a good foundation for a business plan and it's working. Their reps are excited about their product and are gaining new clients everyday.

Also, live video is getting bigger and bigger on Facebook. I see people on my feed promoting makeup lines, healthy eating, Essential Oils, etc., almost daily now. Why is live video getting huge? Because it's instant, it's organic with no editing, and it allows the speaker to interact with their followers in real-time.

Self-promotion used to annoy me a little bit, but now I have no problems with it. In fact, it's necessary. Part of the reason I have no problems with it is I have my own business to promote so I understand being in those shoes. But, the other part of me realizes that these people are passionate about their product or service and they believe it can help someone to make a positive change. If you don't believe in a product you are not going to waste that much time and energy promoting it. If you are still annoyed by it, it literally takes a second to scroll past it.

This brings me to my business. I haven't self-promoted a lot on my personal page. But, I have and will continue to do so. Why? Because I really believe in my services. I believe very strongly that I can help a business with marketing, which in turn will increase sales. I will make your business money.

Over the past five years or so, I worked hard while many were sleeping to learn everything I could about Digital Marketing. It's changed over those five years too, so it is a constant learning process. It wasn't until these past few months that I took a risk and put myself out there. Is it scary? Yes. Is it exciting? 100% yes.

Don't feel bad self-promoting your business if you feeling strongly that you can make a positive impact in someone's life. After all, don't we all self promote with resumes when looking for a new job?
