Announcing JM Sports
I was talking to a friend the other day. I told them, it seems that this year I'm taking every idea I've had in the past five years and throwing it out there and seeing if it works.
If you know me well, you know I love high school sports. I love going to games as a fan and I also love covering games from the sidelines.
I've been a sportswriter off and on for the past 17 years. That is almost half my life. I've covered state tournaments in football, basketball, volleyball and cross country. I've had my work featured in The Walnut Leader, Bureau County Republican and Sauk Valley News.
This year I am combining the best of both worlds. My business at Jamison Media Services and my history of covering high school sports is coming together to form Jamison Media Sports, or JM Sports for short.
All the content will be online. The picture above is a screenshot from my website, www.jamisonmediasports.com, which is now live. On the site, I will have rosters, schedules, video previews and highlights, stats, standings, game re-caps, random thoughts and message boards. I wanted to create a community for fans of the Three-Rivers Conference.
Am I doing this for free? No. I already have a lot of time invested in this. There will be advertisers in some of the videos I create and on the website. The new way to advertise is online and it's only matter of time until more businesses catch on. Also, to those that advertise, I am offering some of my services of my business at no charge, if they wish to take advantage.
But, I also wanted to give back to the schools somehow. So, advertising money will also fund me traveling to any school in the conference and producing a college recruiting video for free for any student athlete that wants to play sports at the next level after high school.
I'm excited for this venture. Lots of content coming to the JM Sports website this month. If you are a sports fan follow along and join the forums to talk with other fans.
